Alnwick
Lumbylaw is situated 6 miles from the historic market towns of Alnwick, which is the castle home to the Duke of Northumberland, and 6 miles from Rothbury. Our rural setting with panoramic views is also an ideal touring base to visit The National Park, the Heritage Coast and the Scottish border towns and villages.
There are many local country inns that provide excellent meals and the neighbouring towns of Alnwick and Rothbury offer a wide variety of shops. One visit not to be missed is the National Trust property of Cragside, formerly home to Lord Armstrong, the first house in the World to be lit by waterpower-generated electricity. At Cragside, there is a spectacular drive through the 900 acre park ablaze with rhododendrons in late May/June.
The nearest Airport is at Newcastle upon Tyne, about 30 miles away, the nearest Railway Station is Alnmouth, about 9 miles. This serves GNER trains between London and Edinburgh and also some VIRGIN routes. The A1 London to Edinburgh Trunk road runs just to the east of Alnwick and is about 4 miles away.
